| TAMMI O'FLYNN | |||
|
Tammi was born and grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. Her dad is Irish, hailing from Dublin. She started her ballet training at 5 with Ingrid Gaertner's School of Ballet, and then continued at the University of Cape Town's (UCT) ballet school, completing RAD Advanced with Honours. In 1994 Tammi was invited to join CAPAB Ballet as a full-time member, where she remained for 2 years. She performed and toured in South Africa and to Sadlers Wells, London; and represented the company in the Sanlam International Ballet Competition. After resigning from CAPAB she decided to expand her horizons and spent a year dancing in Seoul, Korea; and then 4 months dancing in Turkey. On returning to Cape Town Tammi decided to study further and has since completed training in Massage Therapy (Aromatherapy, Swedish & Deep Tissue); Reiki (levels 1 & 2); Body Alignment Technique and Energy Release Therapy. From 1999-2002 she studied full-time with the College of Phytotherapy in the UK, successfully graduating as a medical herbalist in September 2002. On her return to Cape Town she began a private practice. It was during this time that she discovered Pilates training and was amazed at the effects it had on her body. On learning about its wider applications and benefits; ranging from injury rehabilitation, to professional sports people looking to enhance performance; to improvement of strength, posture and body shape, she decided to train as a Pilates Instructor. She completed her training in Mat 1 & 2; Accessories; Rehabilitation and Peri-Natal Pilates with Equilibrium in Cape Town. In 2007 Tammi took time off to travel around South America, and had a fantastic year of fun and adventure. In 2008, looking for a new challenge, she decided to settle in Dublin and explore her Irish roots, with the aim of incorporating all of her skills into a busy, challenging and holistic practice. She looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm for Pilates training and the fantastic results it affords to all students; whether a new-comer to exercise, a professional sports person, someone requiring rehabilitation or support around pregnancy. |

| LISA MCLOUGHLIN | |||
| I have been a Pilates practitioner for 8 years. I started dancing at the tender age of five and became completely hooked. After flying through all my ballet exams with Pauline McGrath I was accepted to the Rambert School in London for three years. I have performed with the National Ballet of China in Beijing and toured throughout Tasmania, Poland, Cyprus, USA, Germany, and, of course Ireland. I have danced extensively with Rex Levitates Dance Company, Coisceim Dance Theatre, Catapult Dance Company, Marguerite Donlon and dancers, Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Daghdha Dance Company and Opera Ireland. I have also choreographed the duet, "Tender Hooks of Honesty" for the 2003 Dublin Fringe which won the prestigious Jane Snow award. I gained my Pilates training at the BODYFIRM™ Pilates studio under master trainer Joyce Gavin and most recently re-trained in STOTT™ Pilates. I have attended the pre /post natal courses and regularly work with pregnant clients on a one to one basis and in small groups. “Pilates has radically changed the way I use my body in everyday life and in Dance. Having had several small injuries I was left with lots of pain throughout my body which I just thought was the pay off for dancing, however since starting Pilates my pain is all but gone and I am much more aware of how to protect my joints in everyday life. I would recommend Pilates to anyone!”

| DEIRDRE MURPHY | |||
Born and raised in rural Alaska, Deirdre Murphy has been dancing since early childhood. After completing a BA in Theatre at University of Alaska, she moved to Chicago to begin her professional dance career. She danced there with the company Deeply Rooted, where she engaged deeply in a variety of techniques including Pilates, Graham, Horton,and Dunham. In 2000 she moved to San Francisco, where she continued to dance independently and with the Incarnadine Collective, performing throughout the western United States. Deirdre did her first yoga teacher training, in Ashtanga Yoga, at this time, and began her teaching career. Continual interests in athletic techniques such as capoiera, acrobatics, contact improvisation, and low flying release technique and the more physically demanding forms of yoga have marked her career and physical interests. In Dublin, she began to explore the world of aerial dance, dancing with the Cork based integrated company Croi Glan, and has performed her own work in numerous venues throughout Ireland, Canada, and the USA. She began teaching Pilates in 2006, training with Susan Church, after realising that the continual practice of Pilates was key to maintaining an injury-free body. She has furthered her yoga teaching through additional trainings with David Swenson, and Erich Schiffman, and consistent self practice. Her physical practice keeps her grounded and happy through the rigours of raising her two small sons. She emphasises self inquiry and self knowledge through her classes, which are both light hearted and challenging. Flying yoga uses the benefits of Pilates core work, with the additional elements of partner acrobatics, thai massage, yoga asana, and acrobatic and theraputic partner flying. Each class includes a thorough warm up, based in yoga, Pilates, and acrobatics, of strength and flexibility training, before moving into partner flying. A calm and open mindset is created. The class is exciting and refreshing, with a freeing sense of exploration and play. |
